The
Department of PG Commerce organized a Parents–Teachers Meeting for the I M.Com
students on 26th February 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Department Seminar Hall. The
meeting was conducted under the leadership of the Head of the Department (HOD) Dr.C.Christal
Pappa and was coordinated by the class in-charge Dr.R.Rema Mary along with all
faculty members.
The
programme commenced with a warm welcome address by the class in-charge, who
explained the purpose of the meeting and emphasized the importance of regular
interaction between parents and faculty members. The Head of the Department
presided over the meeting and addressed the gathering, highlighting the role of
parents in supporting their children’s academic progress and career
development.
The
main objective of the meeting was to discuss the students’ academic
performance, particularly the 2nd semester university examination results.
Parents were informed in detail about their wards’ marks, strengths, and areas
that require improvement. Faculty members also explained the evaluation system
and encouraged parents to motivate their children to perform better in future
examinations.
Attendance
was another important aspect discussed during the meeting. Parents were made
aware of their children’s attendance percentage and were advised to ensure
regular participation in classes, as consistent attendance plays a vital role
in academic success. The importance of discipline and active involvement in
classroom activities was also emphasized.
The
meeting also focused on extracurricular activities, highlighting the importance
of overall personality development. Parents were informed about various
activities such as seminars, workshops, cultural events, and sports, which help
students develop confidence, communication skills, and teamwork.
Special
attention was given to career-oriented guidance and competitive examinations.
The faculty members created awareness among parents regarding coaching and
preparation for national and state-level competitive exams such as NET
(National Eligibility Test), SET (State Eligibility Test), bank examinations,
and Group I and Group II services. The importance of early preparation, skill
development, and consistent practice was clearly explained. Parents were
encouraged to support and motivate their children to participate in such
coaching programmes and to aim for higher career goals.
The
meeting served as a platform to motivate students through parental support and
guidance. The faculty members stressed the importance of encouragement from
parents in building confidence and achieving both academic and professional
success.
An
interactive session was conducted towards the end of the programme, where
parents had the opportunity to meet subject-wise faculty members. Each teacher
provided individual feedback regarding the students’ academic performance,
behaviour, and participation. Parents actively engaged in discussions,
clarified their doubts, and shared valuable suggestions.
The
meeting concluded successfully with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to
the parents for their presence and cooperation. Overall, the Parents–Teachers
Meeting was highly effective in strengthening the relationship between parents
and the institution and in guiding students towards academic excellence and
career advancement.
