A
Parents’ Meeting was held on 24th Feb 2026 by the Department of PG
Commerce to strengthen communication between parents and faculty members and to
review the academic progress of students. Around 35 parents attended the
meeting and actively participated in the discussions. The programme was organized
in a systematic manner under the guidance of the department staff and class
in-charge Dr.V.Viji Kumar, which efficiently coordinated the entire session.
The
meeting began with a welcome address, followed by an overview of the
department’s academic activities and achievements. Parents were given detailed
information about the students’ performance in university examinations,
internal assessments, and overall academic progress. Individual concerns
regarding marks, subject understanding, and improvement strategies were also
discussed. Faculty members provided constructive feedback and suggested ways to
enhance students’ learning outcomes.
In
addition to academic performance, discussions were held on co-curricular and
extra-curricular activities. Parents were informed about various programmes
conducted by the department, including seminars, workshops, extension
activities, and competitions that contribute to the holistic development of
students. The importance of participation in such activities was emphasized, as
it helps in building confidence, skills, and overall personality development.
The
meeting also covered topics related to discipline, attendance, and classroom
behavior. Faculty members highlighted the importance of regular attendance,
punctuality, and maintaining discipline within the campus. Parents were
encouraged to support and guide their children in maintaining a balanced
approach towards academics and other activities.
Furthermore,
information regarding higher education opportunities and career prospects was
shared. Parents were made aware of various options available after completion
of the course, including postgraduate studies, professional courses, and
competitive examinations. Guidance was also provided on preparing for
university-level examinations and improving academic performance.
An
important part of the discussion focused on add-on courses offered by the
department. The benefits of these courses in enhancing employability skills and
providing practical knowledge were explained. Parents appreciated the efforts
taken by the department to provide additional learning opportunities for
students.
The
interactive session allowed parents to raise queries and clarify their doubts
regarding academic, co-curricular, and career-related matters. The meeting
concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the parents for
their active participation and valuable suggestions. Overall, the Parents’
Meeting was successful in creating a strong bond between the institution and
parents, ensuring the betterment and progress of the students.
