The
Department of PG Commerce organized a Parents–Teachers Meeting for the I B.Com
students on 23rd February 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Department Seminar Hall. The
meeting was conducted under the guidance of the Head of the Department (HOD)
and was coordinated by the class in-charge along with the faculty members.
The
primary objective of the meeting was to strengthen the relationship between
parents and the institution, and to provide a clear understanding of the
academic progress, discipline, and overall development of the students. A large
number of parents attended the meeting and actively participated in the
discussions.
The
programme began with a welcome address by the class in-charge Dr.S.Prabin, who
briefed the parents about the purpose of the meeting. The Head of the
Department addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of parental
involvement in shaping students’ academic success and personal growth. The HOD
Dr.C.Christal Pappa also highlighted the department’s commitment to maintaining
high academic standards and discipline among students.
During
the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the students’ university
examination performance and internal assessment marks. Parents were informed
about their wards’ academic progress, strengths, and areas requiring
improvement. Special attention was given to class attendance, and parents were
advised on the importance of regular attendance for better academic outcomes.
The
faculty members discussed the internal test performance of students and
explained the evaluation process. They also provided insights into students’
classroom behavior, discipline, and overall conduct. Parents were encouraged to
monitor their children’s study habits and support them in maintaining a
disciplined academic routine.
In
addition to academic matters, the meeting also covered information about add-on
courses offered by the department. The benefits of these courses in enhancing
students’ skills and employability were clearly explained to the parents. The
department also highlighted various extracurricular activities, including
sports and cultural events, which play a vital role in the holistic development
of students.
An
interactive session was conducted where parents had the opportunity to meet and
interact with individual subject teachers. Each faculty member provided personalized
feedback on the students’ performance and clarified any doubts raised by the
parents. This interaction helped in building a better understanding and
cooperation between parents and teachers.
The
parents expressed their satisfaction with the efforts taken by the department
and appreciated the transparency in sharing academic and behavioral
information. They also provided valuable suggestions for the improvement of
teaching and learning practices.
The
meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by one of the faculty
members, who thanked the parents for their active participation and continuous
support. The department assured the parents of its commitment to guiding
students towards academic excellence and overall development.
Overall,
the Parents–Teachers Meeting was successful in creating a strong bond between
parents and the institution and in promoting the all-round development of the
students.
